#8 Turquoise Valley in Naco

In our search for our next boondocking site, we were enticed by a completely different full-service campground located at the Turquoise Valley Golf and RV resort just a couple hundred yards from the Mexico border.
Right before the resort turnoff - notice the border fence.

Why would we forego the serenity of a remote location for a gravel parking lot?  Several reasons - unlimited water and electricity, laundry, cable (this is important to my hubby in the evenings) - all at a measly $13.50 per night.  Oh did I mention the clubhouse bar - it is after all a 106 year old golf facility. One downside to this civilized locale is limited doggy amenities. They are once again relegated to a leash and we were on frequent potty patrol.

A couple miles down the road is Bisbee, AZ.

It's a town of artsy hippies who eschew the traditional. The art is unique, the town is historic, and the vibe is real. We talked to fellow scooterists at the historic Copper Queen saloon and shared some unique camping, riding and border patrol tales.

Nearby is Coronado's Memorial - another national historic site that I forgot to bring my passport book to!  It's a beautiful ride on Montezuma Canyon Road.  Had we had the truck instead of the Harley we could've went to the peak - maybe next time. We did learn that our Ft Bowie ranger was actually posted at Coronado. We told the staff to pass in our Gila Monster and rattlesnake tales. I was surprised to learn that even the rangers don't come across these critters often - while we did in a 10-minute span.

Today we head toward Tombstone to soak up some western history - and enjoy some of that tourist trap campiness. Looking forward to the next adventure.
